Driver's License Fees

All outstanding debts (child support payments, outstanding tickets, and dishonored checks) to the DC government must be satisfied before completing most of your DMV transactions. DMV accepts payments in the form of cash, money order, or credit card*.

* DMV accepts VISA, MasterCard and Discover credit cards. DMV does not accept American Express credit cards.
** Driver's License Reinstatement fee should be paid with personal check, money order or credit card only.
*** Failure to cancel a scheduled road test within two business days will result in a $10 cancellation fee. This fee will be collected the next time you complete a license-related transaction. This fee will not be charged if you cancel at least two business days before your road test by calling the DMV Call Center at 311 or (202) 737-4404.
