A contractor may be issued a temporary
parking permit when a resident in a residential zoned neighborhood
requires home renovations or repairs. The contractor's vehicle must
display commercial tags in the company's name. The parking permit
is issued at no charge. You must present the following original
documents at the DMV:
- Valid vehicle registration. Vehicle MUST display commercial
vehicle tags.
- Proof of valid vehicle insurance.
- Statement from residential property owner certifying that construction,
plumbing, painting, etc. is being performed on the property and
estimated length of project.
- Copy of residential property owner's DC driver's license or
identification card.
- The permit is free of charge and valid for up to 15 days at
a time. To renew the permit all information must be resubmitted.
Although the temporary parking permit contains a sticker, similar to DC's registration sticker, the bottom portion of the sticker can be placed on the dashboard of the driver's side of the vehicle.
